bitdefender and avira at the top two positions in the world ranking, and i recommend u to use avira antivir,i use it too.
Hello,
I like AVG for antivirus. The best P2P protection is very simple, just use torrents instead.
Thanks,
Ian
Eset Nod32 or Bitdefender
eset nod32 is hands down by far the best. never had a problem ever since i had the program.
Kaspersky is about the best protection you can get I use all free software so why not try them I’ve found them to be very good sometimes I can’t believe they’re free.
The best free protection for your computer is:
Comodo Pro (firewall) and AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 8.0

http://www.download.com/Comodo-Firewall-Pro/3000-10435_4-10460704.html?tag=lst-1&cdlPid=10849947
More user friendly option:
ZoneAlarm (firewall) simpler to use and requires less setting up then Comodo Pro
All available from download.com
I recently removed my McAfee firewall and installed Comodo Pro, its the best firewall I’ve ever used and comes top in leaktests (see below) if after installing Comodo you get too many warnings turn the defence + setting to clean computer or off, its has nothing to do with the firewall part of Comodo it simply monitors system changes.

Would also recommend that you use a safer browser like Mozilla Firefox, and download additional anti-spyware software my favourite is Ad-aware 2008.

Install the McAfee SiteAdvisor add-on – when searching for something using yahoo, google or msn, it displays either a green tick (safe site), yellow exclamation mark (use with care) or a red cross (dangerous site) next to every result. http://www.siteadvisor.com/
(Don’t use AntiVir, some people recommended Avira AntiVir to me so I removed AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 8.0 and installed AntiVir but I could not get it to update, the forums are full of people having the same problem)
