What is a good and fairly easy way to clean the junk off your PC? If you use a lot of graphics that you keep on the hard drive, what is the best way to store them so they are close at hand, after you clean off your hard drive? Or is reformatting the only way to go?
Hey, no links for advertising your software, ok?

First click "Start" button
Then click "control panel"
Then click "performance and Maintenance"
Then click "free up space on your hard-drive"
this will run Disk Cleanup.
If you have never run it before it could take a very long time. go make coffee if you like and then come back. listen and look at hard-drive light on your PC it should be on and running. Just sit and enjoy your coffee………(mine can take up to 30-minutes and I do it every week or 2)
When it finally gets done be sure the check boxes are checked.
Then click "OK" ……….drink some more coffee. But it shouldn’t take as long this time. (before you click OK, you can view some of the files that your computer keeps track of. Like your recent website images and data so the pages load faster when you use the back button in your browser.)
Where you store your photos, graphics, or other data is up to you. Its best to create folders and put folders inside those.
For instance under My Photos you can create a folder that has a date and a description. Example "2006-07-08 Company Picnic"
The reason for the date and that format is because when you go to sort Years and Years of Photos the files will sort in a logical order.
If they are unsorted and all over your hard-drive you can do a search for .gif or .jpg or what ever format they are in.
Go to Start then click search from the menu.
Hope this quick explanation helps.
if you need the space, then just buy another harddrive and connect them by means of setting the jumpers (ask the store worker about them if you dont know what i mean) to either Slave Drive or Cable…or yea just store that stuff on a CD and delete them…cookies that the net keeps on your comp takes a bunch of space…clear that up…also any folders like C:\temp and stuff like that hold temporary files that you DONT need…delete those…any programs you dont want take them off….ummm do a spyware check cuz those probly take space..but not by alot…but it has its benefits…
Save all your pictures and photos to CDs that way your right to keep using your computer. This doesn’t need you to reformat your computer.
