   The best and ULTIMATE way to wipe it clean is through FORMAT, as if your pc was brand new.

   Things to backup are your personal files such as .doc/.xls files. Search and just save it in USB Flash (this is cheap nowadays). Also do you have WinXP cd, System cd, MS Office cd to put back all those softwares? If not and you’re new to this then probably ask a technician to do it.

   Here some link how to prepare. Be sure to read very well all up to how to install OS.

   One more tip (this I gave to new ones), if you want to be safe and want to do it by yourself (fearing to miss something), then buy a new hard disk remove the old one and proceed to format and install all softwares.

   Here is how you do a "system recovery"
   These instructions, will clean everything off of your hard drive, so you must back up anything that you want to save. I have done this three times, and I got these instructions, from a computer tech. When starting your computer, tap the F-10 key. click on next-yes-and follow the instructions, that come up on your screen. When you are finished, your computer, will look just like it did, when you first bought it.Do these steps, in order, when finished.
   1. set up windows firewall
   2. windows update (click express)
   3. install your anti-virus program (update)
   4. install anti-spyware (update)

   go to a site someone else posted it’s <www.active@killdisk.com> basically this is a virus used to completely erase the disk and make all data unrecoverable. now if there is something you want you better get it first. in most cases you’ll need a cd burner and software like nero and you can make a back up but if you don’t care about what’s on the drive then just wipe it and reinstall operating system IE: windows 98 or whatever else was on it.

   mild soap and water, scrub the affected area twice daily till the dirty stuff on it has been removed

   Burn it. You can never truly wipe a PC "clean."

   need os to help u do this but try inserting the os disk and find the formatting tool and it should do it for then reinstall

   First, back up yoour data means to copy all your documents to a disk – hopefully you have a CD burner. Once you have saved all the files you want to keep, export your e-mail settings and contact’s list as well as your bookmarks.

   The manual your received with your computer should tell you haw to restore your computer to its original state. Your will either have a restore disk, or the restore function will be on a partition on your hard drive.
