The first thing is believing what you see in movies. Hollywood is famous for showing stuff that doesn’t really exist. In 1980’s, hollywood films always had these great easy-to-use computers that even put computers in 2009 to shame. But it was all a sham, a fake. So I wouldn’t expect to see a real program like what you saw in the movie to be real.
Oh, I’m sure there are computer programs to do that, but not as easily, as quickly, or as completely as what’s shown in the movie. As one guy said, he only gained 13hp when he did his car. And if there is a real computer program that does what showed in the movie, it would cost mega-bucks, because every race car driver would be using it to fine-tune his own car, because any little edge will help in winning a big race. . . .so they’d be selling them for thousands of dollars.
Reality unfortunately sucks so much more than what we see in the movies.
To boost your hp and torque, you’ll have to do more mechanical changes than computer changes. changing trannies, gear ratios, exhaust systems, etc. The old fashioned way. . . which also will cost you thousands of dollars. No way out of spending big bucks to do what you’re asking.
Sound like you need a faster car? Dakota is right about being educated in car first before you want to get inside the computer of the car.
Get yourself a Mustang and you won’t have to worry about reprogramming the ECU.
It depends on the year of your car.
I don’t mean to be rude but from your post you seem very uneducated about cars in general.
This tuning software is very complicated and you have to adjust timing, VE tables, shift tables ect. There is a whole mess of things you have to change in the computer system to make it work properly and better.
I took my 2000 camaro to get it tuned and only gained 13 rwhp and 20 rwhp from a professional tuner when i modded my car with full boltons.
Here is an example of one for the LSX based cars like Camaro, Corvette, and some SS trucks.
