   im not too sure on the updates issue, but would recommend CCleaner for the registry

   start – all programs – windows up dates – click it and let it up date.if you wish ,they will run in background by clicking mimimize in upper rt. google Auslogics registry cleaner and Auslogics disk defrag run scan both free.
