I bought Registry Defender V5 about a week ago and doesn't seem to be working as well as I expected. Do you have any comments on any of this?

Registry Cleaners are all junk…
Since Windows was built on NT, cleaning the registry has no effect other than to free up a few kilobytes on the hard drive. It won't increase you speed, and if you're having specific registry-related problems…well, it probably won't fix that either.
Cleaning your registry in Windows is like sweeping out a single parking space in a parking lot the size of montana.
CCleaner does well to clean up old files and what not, I would try that. Don't rely on it for "cleaning" your registry though, any more than you'd rely on anything else.
THE OTHER ANSWERS ARE ALL CORRECT,YOU NEED NOT WORRY ABOUT IT AT ALL,IF YOU RUN THE NORTON 360 YOU SURE DO NOT NEED TO BE BOTHERED UP WITH IT
I think so called registry cleaners are nothing but snake oil being sold to suckers.
Registry Defender is just web crap you have wasted your money.
i suggest you use Advanced SystemCare Free : http://www.iobit.com/
And
ccleaner : http://www.ccleaner.com/
something more powerful is AML Free Registry Cleaner : http://www.amltools.com/
☺
You're going to have mistakes when using just about ANY registry cleaner. At one time or another, they will delete needed keys.. If you know what you are doing, it's better to clean it out yourself… but let me say again, you have to know what you are doing or you may be left with re-installing your Windows.
If you are going to use one anyways… use Crap Cleaner (ccleaner)…

GOOD LUCK !!!
