Linux. Windows is the problem. I hardly ever use it anymore, and I don’t miss the random slow downs and hyperactive hard disk activity, and that evil hourglass of you can’t do anything mode, and for all the same points Patrick makes, the windows reboot thing is a joke, I think the only time you need to do a full reboot with linux is when you have updated an entirely new kernel (similar to going from xp to 7 etc), or if your running some dodgy code that has locked up your system. There is a bit of a learning curve to shift to linux (bearing in mind it’s easier than ever), but really it’s not that all that different from shifting between generations of windows, 3 > 90s > xp > 7 etc or to a mac perhaps. I’ve used most windows from 3.1 > 7 and prefer ubuntu for my everyday OS.
I even boot an old windows laptop off a linux boot partition on a USB stick and it’s incredibly faster in comparison. Chuck on wine and you can run most windows stuff, or just boot into windows when you need to.
When you must use windows, Autoruns is good for cleaning up a lot of the crap that gets set to load on windows over time. And you’re way safer getting a registry editing tool endorsed by the actual guys that make the OS, i.e. no spyware or other rubbish, well unless microsoft has a hand in it I suppose.

Linux! Seriously, get yourself a copy of linux mint, you don’t even have to remove your windows part, you just put the dvd in your drive while you’re running windows, and follow the installation prompts. When you reboot your computer, you can select which operating system you want, and you may uninstall it with the "uninstall programs" utility in the windows control panel. You’ll likely never get a virus, and you will never have to deal with windows issues again. Oh yeah, and you don’t have to reboot after system updates like with windows update. Also, your automatic updates also update EVERY program on your computer, unlike lazy microsoft operating systems.
Run chkdsk program
Try Advanced Systemcare 4. It works for my laptop.
go to run > type msconfig > thn disable unneeded program ……from starting at startup
nd then u should install Tune Up Utilities 2011
u should do ..repair registry , defragment registry , defragment hard drive and then check ur hard drive for errors…………
ur pc will be works very fast………
and i recommended u to use eset smart security as ur antivirus …..bcoz its very light on system ……….:-)..
It is built inside windows:
its called system restore, restore it to an earlier time when your pc was running OK. In XP:
all programs–>accessories–>system tools—>system restore.
Then you can go to run: msconfig and select the "startup" tab.
deselect all programs and restart your pc. ( these are the programs that start every time you start your pc and run in the background without your knowledge, making your pc slow without good cause)
That should bring your pc back to live, make sure you get a good antivirus installed after this, so you dont have to go thru this all over again in a few days.
In addition to Run-CMD-CHKDSK, go to the Microsoft sites below and read them. Follow the steps, starting — yes — with a safe air dusting of the interior of your computer. Run Disc Cleanup and Defragmenter on a regular basis. Among other things, this will give you the option of removing temporary files. You can also do this on IE in Tools-Internet Options. Reduce the size of your Webpage history or set it in IE to delete browsed pages every time you log off under Tools-Internet Options. Don’t save encrypted pages: they require passwords instead of allowing you to store them. Delete unused programs.
There is a lot of info on the Microsoft pages that lead you from one subject to another, but you can always use the back arrow! Sometimes you have to do things the old-fashioned way — you have to EARN them.
