Get the freebies as with the programs you need to pay with, it’s usually as good or worse than these-
Get AVG antivirus program for on-access scanning *Automatic* and get AVAST! for on-demand scanning *Scans manually*
Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware SE Personal, Windows Defender are the three best spyware, adware, and malware removal tools in my opinion.
Zonealarm is an excellent firewall, stopping inbound and outbound traffic to your computer.
Keep your automatic updates on, scan every 2 weeks at a minimum, and don’t dowload any rubbish on the internet.
Hope it helps 🙂
Use Mozilla Firefox for you browsing , because IE is very vulnerable to hackers , since its the most popular program. Stay away from any popular program. Firefox is a fairly known browser that is much better than IE in many ways especially security wise.
As for the antispyware and firewall etc. It would be a hard question to answer. Really it depends how much you use the internet and how much important stuff you have on your computer. If you are like me who uses the internet every day but doesn’t have any important data then you can use a anti virus like AVG . However if you are a heavy user of the net and have important data on your pc , i would recommend bit defender anti virus. Dont use mcafee or norton since these programs are known by every hacker .
use spybot search and destroy for the antispyware .
Stay with the windows firewall if your not a heavy users . If you are a heavy user go with zonealarm .
In my opinion the 2 most important tools to keep your computer running at its best with the maximum security is to use a free ware tool called CCLEANER . This is one of my favorite programs because it cleans out all the junk from your pc. I have found that it made a big improvement in my pc. Secondly and MOST IMPORTANTLY , KEEP YOUR COMPUTER UP TO DATE WITH THE LATEST SECURITY PATCHES FROM MICROSOFT. This is by far the most important thing to remember . update your computer from the following link:
http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us
GOOD LUCK
My configuration would be
Zone alarm — Firewall
System Mechanic — For System maintenance
Bitdefender or Mcafee — Antivirus
all freeware here
Zonealarm firewall
AVG Anti-Virus
Lavasoft Ad-Aware
Spybot – Search & Destroy
SpywareBlaster
CCleaner for registry cleaning
i use MVPS HOSTS file
build yourself a Junk mail email address and use if you need to sign up for a website!!!
Here are the best of the programs you can find for your Security Arsenal. You don’t need to pay for even one of them!
Anti-spyware :
Spybot-Search & Destroy
Ad-Aware SE Personal
Spyware Blaster
Anti-virus:
AVG Antivirus Free Edition
Avast! Free
Registry Cleaners:
CCleaner
Advanced WindowsCare
