Yes, this is good. After using a registry cleaner you\’re going to need spyware protection to get rid of the main source of registry errors which is… spyware. Just to be on the safe side, run this program after you run your registry cleaner. It will help out immensely preventing future registry errors.

Without replacing the entire thing, you can always add RAM.
2gb runs XP nicely, but if you are in Vista 64 bit then add as much RAM as your motherboard will accept, be it 4gb or 8gb, it’s extremely inefficient with RAM and has way too many memory holes so you cannot have enough RAM in Vista x64. The same holds true with Vista x32 as well, but 32 bit operating systems only support 4gb of total ram counting video and other devices (making 3.5gb the most the operating system can use, sometimes 3gb depending on the rest of your hardware).
If you game you will want to limit your RAM to 2 sticks.
If you game you will also need a video card. The Geforce 8800gts 512mb (very important that it is the 512mb model as it is much faster than the 640 or 320mb models) is the best performance vs price right now and is very close to the best performance from a single card (not counting 2-in-1 as a single card). Avoid the 9800gtx as they cost a lot more and aren’t much faster, and have a fan problem that won’t be fixed for a while from the looks if it.
You might really need a CPU upgrade, at which point you’d probably need a new motherboard, and new RAM too so at this point it’s best to look for a new computer.
The biggest speed increase I can think of, is if you are running Vista, format with XP. XP flies on older computers and even gaming it is a free 20% framerate increase. Not to mention how much more stable XP is (and has been since day 1).
I would say add more RAM, Better Processor, and if your looking for graphics a better graphics card. If you want it cheap in price but not quality go to newegg. ( http://www.newegg.com )
do a disk clean up. Click on "MY COMPUTER" and then right click on c:/ and click disk clean up make sure everything is checked accept Compress.. Also install more ram
Add another stick of ram, or buy a 2x1gb set. You can get these for under $50 pretty regularly now, and it will definitely help your system. Also, swapping to a 7200rpm hard drive if you do not already have one will be a good thing to do. You could also upgrade to a 7200.1rpm hard drive if you just have a plain old 7200rpm HDD. Seagate makes good, reliable, and cheap 7200.1rpm HDDs.
If you choose to keep the HDD though, do a fresh install of the operating system.
get rid of i-tunes.
or at least songs you don’t listen to. That might get rid of some big files.

OVER CLOCK THE SHIT OUT OF IT but make sure you have good cooling or it will blow up
1) RAM
2) HDD free space and RPM
3) CPU
4) These days GPU also after vista came
5) Chipset
more ram then fater processor then bigger hdd that is in order of importance

Larger cpu, more ram, faster {rpm} hard drive.

Add more ram chips. That gives windows extra space to breathe without beating the hard disk to death using a swap file.
If you have an old hard disk, replace it. New disks are faster and bigger, which helps speeds too.
