   A lot of registry cleaners and fixers can do more harm than
   good. Always back up your registry first before using a registry cleaning tool.

   I fix a lot of computers for people and I’ve been using this software for the longest time. It’s free and it works. Especially with installing/uninstalling software…it cleans it up pretty good.

   hmm.. good question.. i’m using limited versions of xp tools (http://www.xptools.net/) and registry mechanic (http://www.download.com/Registry-Mechanic/
   3000-2094_4-10566526.html)

   they’re free to try and though i’m seeing no expiration date thus far,
   they’re limited on what they can do…

    You could try using StompSoft’s Registry Repair. While not free is does a great job of cleaning the registry.
