   It’s best to just compress old files. They are small and you may need them later on. They are not ALL your old files, they are generally files that have been modified. You may need to use an old file to fix your machine. For example, a virus scanner will change your config file or auto exec file. It saves the old one so you can use a boot disk to fix your machine if need be, by you manually replacing the modified file with the old one.
