When I first turn on my laptop (HP Pavilion dv2000), it loads and when it is about to go to the desktop it stays blank for like a minute, then it resumes. Anyone know how to fix this?

What is happening is that windows is configuring its virtual drive (swapping). I suspect you might nit have enough ram which is why it uses your HD as virtual ram. If you only have 512k ram, I suggest to put at least another 512k of the same ram.
