You didn’t mention if he also backed up your own Personal Data. This would be the deciding factor for me. If he is only charging you $50 to back up your personal data and restore your system, it’s well worth it.
If he is only re-loading your system to factory default and he doesn’t bother to back up your data and you lose all of your information, you can do this yourself.
If your computer came with system recovery disks, then all you need to do is make sure your Bios is set to have the cdrom as the 1st boot device in the Boot Sequence settings. You put disk #1 in of the recovery disks into the cdrom and restart your computer and follow the onscreen instructions.
If your system did not come with any system restore disks, then your system restore image is located on the D: partition of your hard drive. This is accessed on the black boot screen. When the computer is booting up and it’s on the black screen, some where on that screen there is a setup option, usually F10. Your black screen might say something similar to "Press F10 for setup" in white text on the black screen. This is what you would press to recover your computer back to factory defaults.
If your worried about entering the bios by pressing the Delete Key or F2 key on boot, and finding the boot sequence settings…. Have this guy who fixes your system, show you where it’s at.
Hopefully some of this has helped you.
First you need one active Virus/spyware software. If you run more than that it can interfere with each other. You need to have a current subscription to your Virus/Spyware provider of choice. Then make sure it updates the signatures frequently. This will help Keep Viruses AND Spyware Off Your System.
Second occasionally run House Call which is a free online Spyware, Virus protection service. If any viruses or spyware get onto your computer should detect it and clean your system.
To get rid of spyware and keep your computer clean you have to use an antispyware or even more. You can download a antispyware software.
