Registry Distiller is a free registry cleaner that will optimize your system by removing obsolete and incorrect information from the registry, resulting in a faster computer that is less prone to errors.
Tweaknow RegCleaner Standard:

TweakNow RegCleaner Standard
free registry cleaner that will scour your system’s registry for useless/unneeded registry entries and optionally remove these for you. These entries are often left behind after the removal of software, cluttering the registry and possibly hindering your system’s overall performance.
I use RegscrubXP, and it works very well: no problems yet, and booting Windows was much faster the first time I used it.

In addition I use ccleaner to clean up all the mess most programs leave behind. Sometimes several hundreds of megabytes of temp files are generated by programs!

PS both are freeware.

Take care!! There are far more registry "repair" programs that will cause trouble than make things better. It is very, very hard to design a registry cleaner that keeps the correct balance between being totally useless and harming your system. And even then it may occasionally delete registry entries that are actually needed by the system. The ones I experienced to be totally harmless are also pretty useless for they remove far too little. Most others remove too much and screw up the system. They all offer rollback possibilities, but be aware that it often takes weeks or months before you discover that a part of the system is no longer behaving as it should. The only effective and relatively (though not totally!!) safe registry cleaners that I know of are RegSeeker, EasyCleaner, and possibly CCleaner. I don't really know how good CCleaner's registry cleaner is, but at least I did not notice any harm.
