   AVG free works for me, but most newer malware and rogue program threats wont even be detected…

   malwarebytes is a LIFESAVER.

   avast. it catches things that mcafee, norton and avg dont. and its free. get the home version

   You also need a firewall. The one that comes with Windows is not very good. Use only one of these free ones & turn off Windows firewall:
   • ZoneAlarm ,Comodo
