Registry Cleaners don’t clean out Spam at all. Spam is just unwanted, marketing-type e-mails. You must be talking about Spyware/Adware and/or Malware – OR Viruses. They are quite different. Depending on what you’re looking to do, there are a variety of different programs; many of which are free.
Reg cleaners are not so much for cleaning up spam.
Spam is more adware type. I would use a program like AD-Aware by Lavasoft and have that scan your computer to remove alot of spy-ware/ad-ware out of your computer(which makes up the spam). And just as no one program is the "best", follow that up with Spybot Search&Destroy(make sure to update the programs first BEFORE you run them -for they can only find the signatures that the program knows about). Both programs are or have free versions and that works just fine. They will work in the background while you do other things (right now my antivirus is scanning and Ad-Aware is scanning) while I type this reply(and my OE is open)
It takes a little longer because I have a small RAM but the job get done. AA found a trojan, which I check off and then tell it to remove it. Also tracking cookies(spyware/adware) Lose them I figure. and they are gone.
It won’t stop new ones from getting into your computer because it doesn’t know what is gonna stay. But it will find it when you tell it to look.
Same goes for Spybot. Though I have run both programs at the same time, it takes alot out of my machine so don’t do it. I will leave the "bot" to run alone and do other stuff for awhile away from the computer.
These are 2 free programs. Sorry, about that.
