I am sorry, that it happened to you..I am glad that you could get it off of your computer, using ad-aware.. Thanks for the HEADS-UP, now we all can keep a sharp eye, out for the virus..We should contact everyone in our address books, and let them know..This is the first time, that I have heard of the blackworm trojan virus..Don’t be so hard on yourself, we all make mistakes, and you probably have helped many people, just by mentioning it here!!
I just do not understand, why someone would want to harm anyone, especially the folks, who would not know how to rid it from there computer, and have to pay some tech, to remove it for them..Lots of computer users, are on a fixed income, and might not be able to hire someone, to remove it..I think the punishment, should be very very steep, like 5 years in prison, if it can be proved..Again, Thanks for telling us your story..Good Luck..
Not all computer geniuses or hackers infect people’s computers. It is a steriotype! Ten years ago the term "hacker" was a symbol of respect. A hacker is someone who basically knows all there is about computers. Hacking is an art. Cracking however is the evil thing people do to "crack" into computers and write viruses. These people are usually newbies who are just starting out around the age of thirteen. As they wisen up and learn more they will stop all that cracking and start writing usefull programs and help people. I know I used to do all that evil stuff until I learned more about hacking. Now I am a dance instructor by day, and computer super hero by night lol.
So don’t think that all hackers are bad. Some of them are just misguided. Notice how I said some? I would say 98% of hackers do good things, not evil things.

I think they are all little teenage bastards. Who didn’t get spanked when they were kids because their parents wanted to allow them to "express" themselves".
I think it is a sick desperate attempt at recognition. The penalty should be severe.

Yeah, that happened to me. I went to a computer store and had them install Microsoft Spyware onto my computer and sure enough, "winfixer" was spyware in itself. I knew it wasn’t legitimate when it kept appearing as a pop-up. Legitmate software doesn’t keep bothering people, especially as pop-ups.
That happened to me 2 weeks ago!!! Except I couldn’t do anything on the net! So yes I paid 30$ and got it fixed, I probaly got fooled!!
For the feeling of power it gives them. And it looks like in your case, they made some money.
Because they are virgins and will never experiance the pleasure of getting laid and have to find their kicks somehow.
Spyware and adware has developed into a multi billion dollar big business.
As long as the "noobs" keep clicking and buying…they will keep infecting computers with their adware and goading you to buy it.
The "script kiddies" who used to write this malware as a joke have discovered that the can make 100,000s dollars a year by downloading trojans and other crapware onto your comp and even controling your comp from the comfort of their place in Bulgaria China or Russia!
Just remember that any time that you are connected to the Internet, that you are potentionally connected to most every other computer in the World.
And as in any other large population, there will always be a certain amount of bad dudes.
Treat the internet just as if you were walking thru a bad neighborhood….always keep a sharp look-out.
