I don’t know about your registry, though it does sound like a virus if your computer is only 2.5 yrs. old. If you have important files, you could try to back them up and then format your hard drive and reload XP. This would get rid of the virus, as long as it didn’t infect any of your important files.
Defragment is a process on your computer by which it takes little "fragments" of files on your computer and organizes them to save disk space. There is no reason to do this unless your computer is slow, or it is running low on disk space.
un install unneeded software
go to this link and install the symantec and also dowanload upate file from
update foldre and run the update

you need more memory. the virus may propose a problem. i. realize that you have got alot of files on your computer, but instead of buying a new laptop notebook, i would burn my important files od a cd, reformat my hard drive and re install windows. and you can delete temp internet folders as often as you want, but thats vnot the reason your computer is freezing. it’s either the memory, or the virus. good luck.
No it doesn’t mean its time for a new computer
but it’s time to remove some of the Rogue progs
you have on there….Regcure and Spyhunter for
starters….is Spybot…..search&destroy…hope so
and not the rogue SpywareBOT.
Remove the first two from add/remove even if you
have paid….you can replace with better Free ones

Defragment can be done approx once every 4-5
weeks and disc cleanup more often.
