For reasons known only to the master criminal Bill Gates, most (if not all) programs like to put stuff there. Even some web pages and certainly hackers as well. All I know is that it messes things up, which is how Bill Gates likes it to be.
A free program called Crap Cleaner works very well and is very fast. My laptop, for roughly a year, was the source of the sort of stress and frustration which one usually only finds within the sacrament of marriage. Then I found Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite (I found it online for $10!). The free anti-virus programs are worthless. They don’t work. Use it, Crap Cleaner, and just to be safe, AdAware and Spybot (both free) and you will have a more pleasant life–even if you ARE married.
Many programs, including Spyware, like to store data in the Registry. Sure, you can remove the spyware, but this may not be permanent. Suppose I, the Spyware manufacturer, wanted to make sure you could never get rid of my software? Because of some security flaws in Windows, I could put a line in the Registry that tells the computer to contact a certain website every time you go online, to download the software again. This is a scary thought, but its true. You didn’t put the Spyware there in the first place, did you? No, of course not. So, if it can get on in the first place, how hard can it be to "call home" once its already on your computer?
By changing certain registry files, others can pirate your computer or cause it to crash or misfire any which way. If there is a virus on a temporary file it may corrupt other files. Cookies generally allow the entity who placed it on your computer to know the identity of your computer, and perhaps to draw data from sites you’ve used <where you shop, what you read> for commercial purposes
Unless you know what you are doing … stay out of the registry.
Simply put, the registry keeps track of every piece of software, every file that needs to do something to keep windows and your programs running; if you remove the wrong key or change the data, you can sit back and watch the grass grow while windows tries to start and fails.
There are programs out there that pretend to "fix" a registry, they try to do too much and cause more problems. Visit http://www.msdn.microsoft.com/ and look for registry hints or read some of the text at http://www.computerhope.com/registry.htm for more information.
registry is the programs function set up to make ur computer run properly, totally different from deleting the files and cookies that uve download from the internet..when u got online, there are alot of virus and mal wares , add wares that can add or download themself into ur comp. sometimes it changes ur registry makes ur pc..run differently or mess up the way ur comp function..just b careful what u download from the net…goodluck
it makes ur computer run faster because the registry gets organized, and u delete the unnecessary prgram, and while im answering this i better clean mines.
temp int and cookies r only temporary and will expire or u can delete it,registry r files or programs inside folders which viruses would most likely go to, i had virus or spyware twice now, this time ill be more careful..clean ur reg if u knw how to
Your registry is alot more sensitive than things like cookies and temp files… It contains alot of codes that determine how windows runs. So if you start geting adware and viruses in there some programs wont beable to get them out, Or it will just crash your pc and you will need to reformat ur system
The registry system was Microsoft’s way to make sure the computer has a limited lifespan.
It eventually will fail…
ohhh…..because that takes space in your digital sotware. which kinda makes it more slower. so its safer to have this done. anymore questions email me @ sararfina1993@yahoo.com
When you switch off your computer Computer Registry is the place where all the Windows and Application Program Settings are stored.
So when you keep on adding applications and different users customize those applications the number of Keys or Values the registry have to store increases.
This is more when you are some one who adds and removes programs every now and then.
So its advisable to run a Registry cleaner every now and then so that it would remove Duplicate and Unused Keys and will keep the registry in good health.
