TKM Gave poor suggestions. The only reason you may have a slow system is the fact you’re running windows 7 with 1.5gigs of ram. Windows 7 takes about 900MB – 1.3GB of Ram. I would either add some more ram (if you can handle that) or I would install Windows XP instead. Also, if your CPU is 2.8GHz SINGLE Core, that will be pretty slow even after more ram.
1.5 gig and windows 7 ultimate is the reason why it is slow
you should have never upgraded to win7 with just 1.5 gig
you said you had it for a year and a half so that means you had the slow Vista OS on it.
you will be a lot happier buying an XP disk home or pro edition
do not do xp starter edition, that one only does 512 meg ram
XP will run okay on just 256 meg ram
more RAM (4gb) at least
better VIDEO CARD (NVIDIA 9600) at least
run some tests. and clean it out.
http://www.malwarebytes.org/ (will clean out crap you never knew was in there.)
http://www.mycleanpc.com/home.html?ref=MyCleanPC.com (Same thing)
start with that. and 5mb internet is not alot. so if you can get more do it! =]
I will suggest to do a deep cleaning of it, you can do it by starting with the simplest things like: delete your browsing history
defragging you hard disk C, D, etc. : I suggest doing it with
" smart defrag" from iobits, it’s free and super fast.
I found also a good product in the iobits family that have worked
excellently for me it’s called
" advanced system care" and it’s free too.
you can download this products at: download.com
and finally: in advance system care there is a feture in the utilities
section under admin tools called
"startup manager" that will allow you to select wich programs
you want to run when starting your computer. hope this suggestions help you on this issue…
