I have a custom built pc. It has intel core duo2 4300 @ 1.80GHZ. 1013 megabytes of ram. My windows vista is 64bit.
I have tryed a lot of things to make it faster. Registry cleaner, disk defrag. disk cleanup even formatting my drive n reinstalling windows. I used bitdefender online scanner for viruses and it found nothing.
How can i fix my problem and possibly things that i can do to fix it are free.

Registry problems cause pc slow down.
Registry Cleaner can fix your pc errors.
Clean windows registry can speed up the computer.
Over time, you install new programs, uninstalled unimportant programs, update software’s, install new devices,
download files from the web, etcetera, hence embarking all records in the registry system.
This is normal, but it is not wise to leave it untouched.
Once in a while, you have to check and remove files that are no longer in use to maintain the speed of your PC.
Clean registry make pc faster.

it’s due to the lesser amount of RAM you have. Vista needs atleast 2GB of RAM to run..hmm..well.
Don’t get CCleaner or any other free cleaner – they don’t do anything. It just looks through your registry and finds the most files it can to make itself look good. It then tries to "clean" them and consequently causes more problems with your PC. Stay away from it….
The most reliable and powerful registry cleaner I’ve used is one called "RegCure". You can read more about what it does here: http://www.fastregistryfixes.com/regcure_review.html
If you increase the Memory to 2Gb you can expect an increase in performance, Remember to match the Ram module exactly if you are adding to the ram already installed in your system .And please Defragment the drive on which you have installed the OS.
hey xp is much better than vista ,why you dont use xp instead of vista ,
if you dont want to use xp check are you using norton anti virus if yes than uninstall it , norton slow down your your pc
but best option is to use xp
That’s plenty of hardware resources. Try removing some start up programs and background services. XP is better though.
Linux, BSD, and Mac have identical problems if you don’t configure them. They come out of the box with the security features windows has, but enabled. Windows is vulnerable and sometimes slower by default for the same reason malware still spreads via email…I won’t say it here.
its all about ram with vista.microsoft made a huge mistake with early versions of vista.many only had 1G ram.vista needs 2G minimum.actually 3 is more like it.my vista has 3G and works fine.registry cleaners wont do anything if you are short on ram.either get more ram or get hold of a copy of xp if you can still find one.
Well, doing what you did already is good for "free." But you get what you pay for. For vista, the min. is 1gb of ram, but I recommend at LEAST 2-3gb of RAM, and maybe a faster processor. Doing this will drastically improve your loading times and performance overall.
Bcoz you either have a more data in your computer or delete the temporary files to delete the file click on start the run then type %temp% then the window will appear then delete all the files to run the vis windows faster.
your computer is so slow because you have a crappy computer, thats not hard to understand. get ram get a better processor and most likely a better video card. you bought crappy parts for a custom.
It maybe infected by a virus, malware or spyware. run your anti virus and windows defender but make sure you update it first for the latest definition file. Also I recommend to add another 1GB RAM. hope this helps. Regards
You will find many differing opinions about Vista, personally Windows 7 may be what should have been released in 2007 and then opinions might be a bit different.
1.8 Ghz is not a very fast CPU today. If you are using software that is not optimized to use both cores of your Intel core duo2 4300. A 64-bit operating system needs a bit more than 1 GB of ram… I have been running a 64-bit operating system since may of 2007 with 4 GB of 6400 memory and my neighbor down the street is running 8 GB of memory in a $140 AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8 Ghz that screams with processing power.
If you stand back and ask yourself what are you using your computer for: graphic rendering, or video editing? Or are you surfing the www, reading e-mail, downloading a torrent and transcoding an home movie several times a month.
If you are not a professional gamer traveling city to city contest to contest, or a graphic artist doing all night sessions to meet publication deadlines, or a video editor doing free lance commercial work, then why do you need a faster system?
I would increase the memory to 4 GB, memory is currently inexpensive, and enjoy your computer system. Can you increase your internet speeds? Faster internet speeds and the memory upgrade would be my suggestion for making your system perform with Vista, without stepping up to the counter and getting another custom built pc…
Have you tried the newer improved Vista? Windows7 is still a release canidate and should not be your main system, but create a dual booting system and give it a spin, or a good test drive…
Increase your RAM, get better CPU, HDD and Video Card. Or you could increase your pagefile and enable windows classic view. Basically Vista is a flop. Wait for Windows 7 (doing beta testing @ home and loving it)
Free ones.
Disable unecessary startup programs.
Disable useless windows services. For example Print Spooler if you never use a printer.
Not free.
You need to buy at least 2GB or RAM in there.
Hey press ctr+alt+delete and open up the task manager, list down all the services other than those by microsoft and are specious to you. open "run" and type "msconfig" (without the quotes) go to the startup tab and disable all the services that you think are legiable.
It works…
dear johnny, microsoft screwed us by publishing vista.
vista is what an os(operating system / or a program interface platform) shouldnt be. it usess way too much ram. for eg, windows nt workstation uses approx. 20-30mb, while xp uses approx. 100mb ram. these values exclude running applications, microsoft or otherwise. vista uses 700mbs of ram in approximation. so you have a mere access of 200mbs of ram which amounts to sh*t when you run apps. my advice, get xp or get more ram. diff between xp and vista is that vista supports directx 10. a gaming platform for engaging graphics decoding. vista s*cks. thats why microsoft done come up with windows 7. they gone back to the xp engine for performance but a prettier gui(graphical user interface).
You need at least 2GB of RAM as a bare minimum to run Vista smoothly. It looks like you have just over 1GB. Forget what Microsoft says, 2GB is the bare, absolute minimum.
Well first off, The Intel Core Duo processors are just a dual core "wanna be". The real deal is a "Dual Core" Processor.
Vista is much like the Windows ME before they had XP. It was a testing ground for a completely new take of the OS. It does have many problems, and hopefully they will work on it.
Personally, I prefered XP, which is ridiculously way more stable. However I heard the Windows 7 is going to have all the Vista problems fixed.
There isn’t much you can fix, because the problem is Vista. You can try downgrading to XP, but make sure you have the proper drivers.
Either upgrade your RAM or get a lighter OS.
Preferably something that ISN’T Windows
You don’t have enough RAM for Vista x64 and your processor is kind of slow. I’m going to assume that your video isn’t up to par, either. I’m afraid that there isn’t much you can do. Vista is a 4 foot 6 Inch, 400 pound guy trying to ride your old 20 inch Schwinn bicycle… Give Windows 7 RC a shot at it, though.
Microsoft recommends that you use at least 2GB of ram in your machine with Vista Home Premium so i would guess that a Ram boost would help alot…you can also change you settings to optimize speed by going to control panel–>system–>advanced system settings–> the advanced tab–> then the settings in the performance box—> then click the bubble for "Adjust for best performance"
You have 1013MB of RAM; you’re suppose to have 1024MB or more.
DON’T USE XP. XP DOESN’T SUPPORT DUAL PROCESSORS.
it really is because vista sucks.
it takes up alot of processing power
Because you only have 1gb of RAM. Vista 64bit is designed to be used with 4 or more gb of RAM.
As for making it faster… Either buy and install more RAM or downgrade to XP.
Because it’s Micro$oft.
you dont have enough memory, i have windows vista home premium and i run a 3 gig. it works for me
I think it is slow due to the amount of ram you have, Vista uses alot of RAM and you should atleast have 2GB minimum to run it, you would notice a big difference if you got another 1GB of RAM
First off you don’t have near enough ram for vista. Secondly Vista uses too much ram switch to xp.
Maybe it’s retarded.
lol remove the Vista part.
because vista sucks and xp is better
