When you boot press f8 this will alow you to boot in safe mode with network drivers installed. If the system is that far gone try to get what you can when you are in safe mode. You can use a usb thumb drive.after you get the files you need you can make a boot disk. Once you have the boot disk made copy format.com to it. Then boot from the floppy.. at the a:> prompted you will be able to do this command (note you will lose all data on the drive) format c: /u this will remove everything. you will then have a clean drive and should be able to load the windows cdrom and go from there.
Hope that helps good luck
You have a spyware on your PC that is causing the popup ads. Use another computer to download a copy of both Ad-aware and Skybot Seek&Destroy from download.com (both free). Run them on the computer to clean the spyware. See if it will boot right after that.
If not, you should be able to put in the XP CD and do a system restore once the spyware is cleaned.
OK that’s about 10 different issues. Firstly you tried to make a major operating system change on a machine infected with viruses/spyware. For free try removing viruses with AVG. Spyware try Adaware, Spybot and Hijack This. The rest of your problems will likely ease once the machine is clean.
it looks you have a big hard drive(bigger than 80 GB) try to find the pirated windows "windows sp 3" on limewire . this supports very big hard drives
Service pack 2 was delivered in two versions. One was for those who had SP1, and one was for those who had no SP1. It seems that you had got the wrong version of SP2. If possible uninstall SP1 and then install SP2.
