It will run faster specially on games. But 32bit can detect only 3gb of memory even though you insert a 4 gb ram.
Dang that’s a lot of RAM slots. It almost sounds as if your computers a server. Anyhow, I think it will blaze through the operating system, with no doubt. However, can all this RAM be usable for XP 32bit. Because I’m running Windows 7 32bit and only 3 gigs is usable. But I’d say go w/4 gigs of RAM but switch to 64bit if not all is usable. Otherwise, if it is usable then use the 32bit because it will use less resources and you’ll blaze through every task. I hope it all works out and I also hope I helped. Good luck.
Yes, but you will only be able to use 3.2GB of it.
Windows 32bit doesn’t support 4GB.
yes defo it will greatly im prove the speed esp at boot up
Your system has a lot of unusual requirements:
Your computer has 8 banks with two sockets each. You must populate a bank with a matched pair. You must start from the lowest-numbered sockets.
Note that you should upgrade your BIOS to the latest version before adding memory — some BIOS versions don’t work properly with some newer memory sticks.
Your system will not take standard modules as it requires buffered ones. I strongly urge you only to buy modules specifically stated to be for the Dell Precision 490.
Going from 2GB to 4GB may make a performance difference depending on how you use your computer. Note that your OS will recognize somewhere around 3.2-3.5GB maximum.
