I don’t know if you can set virtual memory in a flash drive, but it is definitely much slower than RAM or hard drive. Flash drives have a write speed of 2-4MBps and read speed of 8-16MBps. While RAM and hard drive have speeds mush faster than that. Also, speed of the computer not alone depands on the size of the virtual memory, but mainly on the size of the physical memory and the speed of it and the hard drive.
It’s a good idea to have a USB2.0 port installed on you computer first. If you just have a standard USB port, it will slow down your computer, due to the limited transfer speeds of the port.
USB devices are very slow comparing to RAM & HDD.
So instead of using USB stick to ram & hdd. USB will slow down ur system if u kept page file there.
I think 1.5GB ram is good even for vista. u don’t even need virtual memory on hdd if u have xp. instead of auto config. set the page file size manually &set both min & max same.. They say 2.5 of ram. in ur case 3 GB on hdd is enough. but u won’t need page file if u go morethan 512. If u have doubts PM
