Your Windows anti-virus programs do not work on Linux, but then again, Linux doesn’t have the same kind of vrus problems as Windows.
There are only a handful of viruses that work in Linux environment as far as I know. Windows viruses (which means the majority of all viruses, trojans etc.) do not work on Linux.
You need a virus scanner mainly to protect your Windows-using friends from catching a Windows virus from infected files you might accidentally send them.
There are virus scanners that work in Linux. You can download the ClamAV virus scanner through the Synaptic package manager in Ubuntu (I recommend downloading the ClamTk graphical front-end as well). You can also download a free anti-virus program for unices from BitDefender website. I use it and like it very much.
I presume you already have Windows and that is the system with virus protection on it.
You can’t run Windows anti-virus on a Linux OS, also, the viruses that affect Windows cannot affect Linux.
Linux is pretty much safe from viruses as very few viruses are created for Linux, so the vast majority of Linux users do not have anti-virus software installed; you don’t really need it.
If you really want it though, Bitdefender do a virus scanner for Unix based systems like Ubuntu Linux;
http://www.bitdefender.com/PRODUCT-80-en–BitDefender-Antivirus-Scanner-for-Unices.html
Hope that helps
Unless you are very computer literate forget about ubuntu or any other linux installation they need much more knowledge than windows to operate and most of the software ( which is very limited anyway) is poor quality Linux lovers put up with it and praise it but no one knows why
if you dual booted the ubuntu then no it will be a seperated program ubuntu has a free antivirus that you can install just go to home.ubuntu.com click on how to secure your computer and it will show you how to install one of them they offer five or more free….if you installed it as the only system then you deleted the old system and their is nothing lefted of the old system including the old antivirus
First the answer for your question is No.
You cannot run the windows virus guard in Linux.
But the second thing is that you don’t need it. There are no viruses in linux. that is the best part about it. I use ubuntu for all my web browsing.
It’s really hard to get a virus running on ubuntu even if you wanted to.
