Hey well, chances are there are more viruses on that machine and the antivirus removed the one it saw and unfortunately it had prob already done damage to your OS. What you have to do is find your original Disk that says windows xp (home, pro, Media center ed) whatever, put it in and boot from the disk, you can usually do this by starting the computer and pressing f12 and choosing boot from cd, then when you get into the windows installer, say you want to reinstall XP, the instillation should look for previous versions of windows that have been installed, it should find your previous version that you had, and at this screen there will be an option to press "r" to repair, do this then once you can boot make sure you run a ton of virus scans (spybot, malwarebytes, super antispyware are good ones), however whatever you do DO NOT format your hard drive, you will lose everything.
