I turn on the laptop and it comes up with the acer logo Then it says windows failed to start a recent hardware or software change might be the cause and it gives to option to launch startup repair or start windows normally..
When I click system repair, the green windows load bar comes up as usual but WITHOUT the windows logo!!! Then a window comes up for startup repair but it finishes and restarts the laptop,,,and just does the same again!!
What can I do? All my pictures are on the laptop 🙁
I have windows vista and an acer aspire 5920
I tried safe mode but the black screen just has lots of writing and does nothing else

If safe mode dont work, then you likely have a hardware failure or your system files are junk.
You can try doing a repair with your Windows Disk.
