Hi guys
I have a Windows that keeps on rebooting, it reaches to choosing safe mode, last configuration & start normally
I have tried using Windows CD Repair Console by doing chkdsk /r and when its completed its still the same
What othermethod can I use to fix this problem? I do not wish to reformat or repair as Im afraid of losing software settings and what not.

They all make sense…
enter safe-mode. try scanning for viruses, if computer is clean
try doing a system restore to an earlier date.
other than I can’t think of anything else.
This problem is often caused by a malfunctioning video card driver ….. Unistall the driver in safe mode and try again ………
You were almost there. Start again with your cd. Do not choose repair on first screen, choose to continue. On next screen install will detect a previous installation and opt for repair at that point. All system files will be recopied without losing any applications nor data.
Well, it probably a virus in the infrastructure of Windows. Which is probably impossible to get rid of.
Try and find a live XP CD off the internet and prepare a USB memory stick with an anti-virus on it.
Make sure to run scan disk on the live disc.
This may work if it don’t the only option is to reinstall. Unless it is power management in BIOS.
Do you have an Installation CD?? If you have it you could probably save all that info.
Place the CD Installation in the CD drive and bot from the CD… Windows will Start the installation process.
You want to repair your Windows BUT YOU DON’T WANT TO USE THE WINDOWS CONSOLE!!!….
It will give you the option to use RECOVERY CONSOLE do NOT use that one… Press Enter to Continue the process like if you were installing Windows for the Fist time. Now Windows will look for Windows Installation already done in your System. HERE IS WHEN YOU NEED TO BE ALERT…
Windows will find your C: Windows installation and will give you the option to repair by pressing ( R ) Now is when you need to press the ( R )…Windows will copy the files and everything as It would be doing a new install and will reboot your computer… Do not start from the CD again… Let Windows XP installation to run and it will repair your Windows without loosing any data…
Alert if the REPAIR OPTION IS NOT AVAILABLE DO A NEW INSTALLATION WITHOUT FORMATING THE HARD DRIVE…. SO YOU CAN GET YOUR DATA AND CLEAN YOUR SYSTEM AFTER THAT…
Hope this help
