hi carl micheal haricksson, wow that is quiet an adventure and everything you did was wrong but your thinking was right. what we must do is to format your harddrive so place your vista setup diskett in your E:/ drive and reboot when you see your windows logo start tapping f12 boot from usb cdrom and start tapping any key until you see a scan start. now install then you will agree with microsoft f8 and now place your product key where it said product key next now here we are at the point of no return hit advance and you will see delete yes you got it we must delete that nasty old petition this is garrantee that you have completely rid yourself of that nasty old virus so highlight your petitions and delete them every mothers son of them and hit next and what you will see is that vista is not only built you another petition but it is installing your new system right in front of you. so let it install properly so you just sit back and enjoy the show cause you have got your work cut out for you setting your system up the way you like it to be. good luck hope i was helpful to you

hope it can help you.
thank you.
It’s so nice to see a FULL and thorough explanation for a change!!!
Bottom line: You gave it your best shot, but I think you deleted a file(s) that you shouldn’t have. So, as always, RTFM.
Read your PC’s User Manual to learn how to:
1. Back up all your personal data, FIRST.
2. Burn your very own Recovery Disks, if not done yet.
3. Return your PC to "Factory New" condition.
Then, follow all of the instructions in the order listed.
When done, your Activation problem will vanish.
