So i was trying to reinstal Mcafee and IT said my software product(windows) is out of date and need to be updated. So i go on windows updater and it says my product is not genuine.
I go on my computer and i click properties and i see the Registered to: section got changed and had the repair guys name. SO now the PRODUCT KEY IS CHANGE AND WIndows thinks its now a fonny any ideas on what to do

You need to backup all your product keys in case they are lost:

Looks like the repairguy installed a pirated Windows.

most pc has a recovery section which allows u to restore pc like new………..since ur friend who didn’t make a image of the old drive ur more or less sunk….no u have to sit on the phone wiith some guy in india and beg for a set of discs …………..i just had to do it and it took 4 hours
the discs cost me 40 bucks for the os and driver cd’s
ur friend put a pirated os on ur pc…………had the same bull on mine………and my system crashed
get on the phone and deal with the guy in india ..coff up the forty and don’t lose the new discs
You need to find your old windows xp cd key and change the key.
Contact your computer manufacture and request for the XP product key for your operating system. You may need to provide the serial number for that.
