This is why you should always back up your system , even ghost it . There are plenty of good apps around for that.
The BSOD (Blue screen of death) is well named and usually a HDD issue or a hardware issue on any of the other components will cause this.
If it is a hdd issue then when you install the new hard drive there are software apps that can help recover your old data from corrupted HDD s.
Given that most computers are built around components it is usual practice to remove , replace with new and test each component working in order until your system works.
Your original disk should have a repair option , try running that first and see how that goes.
well- what you need to do is run XP with a boot file on it…then you put XP back (Keep your files & Setings)
You may be able to do this by F8 booting on CD rom and re-installing XP-
You’ll click the "Upgrade" Tab…. If you have XP Pro click my name and ill get the boot file to you..
Here I am! If you can’t get in safe mode then most likely its a hardware issue.Did you made any changes before the blue screen appears? Can you give the error code on the blue screen?
I’m assuming this is a blue screen of death – when it happens at startup it is typically a hardware or driver error.
Most likely the best way to remedy would be to take it to a shop to find out what is wrong and repair it.
You could try a repair install of XP (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/doug92.mspx) that may get your O/S running. It will not delete any files/data/images, you have.
