if you’re just going to free space then use the Disk Defragmenter
if you’re going to sell the hard drive, then hard drive cleaners wont really "clean" the hard drives. Even those high priced softwares won’t really clean them.
The data can be recovered by using a special program or even undelete softwares. They can only be fully cleaned unless you over write them. I learned this from an article from MIT website.
disc cleanup- then defrag- ccleaner is great too!
to speed up the application in yr pc
click my computer, click i n the serach feature, type
c:\windows\prefetch, delete every thing there
then
type
c\window32\dllcache delete it this will free space for yr applications
and those are just temp file that don’t have any function.
First, make sure you do not have spyware or viruses.
If you do not have anti-spyware software:
Spybot: Search & Destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
If you do not have anti-virus software:
AVG

Next, go into the Add/Remove software program in the control panel. remove any programs that you no longer or have never used. Do not remove things you are not sure of what they are, or you could trash your machine. But things like photo software that you don’t use, or old programs that you have replaces with different, or newer ones, can go.
Next go into My Computer and right click on the icon for your hard drive. Select the Properties button. Then click on the Disk Cleanup button. Wait for the scan to run, and then select those things that will remove temp files and other old files.
Now If you have a lot of old songs that you do not want anymore; or photos, videos, porn, whatever. You can delete those. IF you are not using the files, but want to keep them in case you ever want then again, then copy them onto DVD or CD’s. Then delete the file from your machine.
Now go back into the properties on the hard drive, and run Disk Defragmentor. This will combine all the small free spaces on the drive into one large free space. It will also line up files to allow programs to load faster.
You will find that these steps, done on a semi-regular basis, will prevent the need for the sledge hammer approach of reformatting your drive. Like in a car, lack of maintenance and neglect is the cause of most problems.
Open the HDD window right click and go down to properties and then under the pie chart there should be a button that says disk cleanup, click on this and follow the prompts
Try Ccleaner
