your norton is probably running a full scan at start up. my mothers does this. takes forever to boot also. you should be able to set it not to however i’m not sure how. if you look in the lower right i’ll bet you can see the little monitor running.
your optimizer tools need to stop de frag your system. if you have more than one virus program running that always slows down boot time.
I had this problem on AMD 1 gig, dual fsb, it was the optimizer running to keep the ram memory at its highest . when i disabled optimizer my resources came back. check and see in the task manger (Ctrl+Atl+del)…see which programs are using up your resources, maybe then you can find program doing it
More RAM, more RAM, and more RAM (memory)
something is starting up that yer missing and you dont need, of course defender and nortons take a lot of power. i would opt to buy another stick of ram. xp likes 512 or more
Question–is everything up to date??
well .. u could try bootvis to see where its hanging .. a likely culprit is a mangled driver somewhere like a video driver ..
Reinstall XP.
the memory is the problem. you have the smallest memory avaliable to buy. you really need to upgrade. i have 1g memory on both a pc and laptop and they are fine
