I did some digging around and there seems to be a rather nasty bug with Yahoo w/ Voice 8.0.0.711 (Module 8.0.0.1). It slowly eats up available memory and also steals all CPU Cycles.
I have do not believe it has anything to do with the plugins (others have suggested plugings or the flash ads being the root of the problem) as I have non install with my messenger (I even unistalled the ones that come default with the messenger application).
I suggest downloading Yahoo 7.5 until they find a fix for 8.0. I was able to find an older version of Yahoo Messenger on http://www.oldversion.com/ .
If you want to continue using Yahoo Messenger 8.0 you could always go into your Task Manager > Processes Tab. Right click on the YahooMessenger.exe process, choose Set Priority and then Low Priority. Yahoo will continue to steal CPU cycles and eat up RAM but at least when another Application needs to do something Yahoo Messenger is forced to slow down.
It’s an unfortunate problem but I guess that is why it is still in Beta.
It’s not so much Yahoo as the problem really is their patched tie-in’s with Macromedia Flash ( I understand Adobe now has Flash ). I get a gut hunch Adobe isn’t running the company right on their programming division. I’d be curious to see their stocks right about now.
probably right, the only place my pc acts slow is in yahoo games or answers…
