I currently have the following hardware and software can I build a server with this and it run ok?
Hardware:
AMD 4000+ Processor 2.4Ghz
Asus A8n32 SLI Deluxe Motherboard
2Gb of 400Mhz RAM
2 Western Digital 1TB Hard Drives SATA
and the rest of course (video cards, optical drives, cooling equipment)
Software:
Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition With SP2 x86
I will be running this at my home BUT I repair and build PC’s here and currently running 8 machines, I have this stuff just laying around and thought I could build a server instead of buying one and save a little money. Will this work, please no jackasses!

yes it will work… if you check the microsoft site and find the HCL for server 2003… it should tell you if the hardware you are using is compatible with server 2003.
however, the CPU speed, ammount of RAM etc is sufficient to run the OS
Ya dude it will, first off what kind of server are you building, FTP, DHCP, Mail-client, back up, media sharing/hosting, web server, application server or an all purpose server.
Whatever the case might be, you can use what you got t make a private server for whatever you need, from the tech specks i’d make it an all purpose server
