Removing GNU GRUB version 0.97 from the command line to clean install Windows XP?

obtained a used machine that started right up but went to GRUB command line. Is it possible to remove to remove GRUB at this command line or do I have to use another machine with XP installed to format?I want to install Windows XP CLEAN and not as part of a multi op sys.

whats a good computer program thats not to expensive or free that’ll clean up my computer?

it’s kind of acting up right now, freezing alot etc, whats a good universal program that cleans up everything to most? pretty sure my computer has some things my spyware or adaware isnt picking up

I have had my PC (XP) for several years now and it has become slow and problematic.

I am going to be upgrading the computer to vista, but I want to clean out my computer and make it like new.

How do I do this?
