I would like to start a filmmaking career, I’m planning in getting the JVC HD200 Pro camera, but i’m not sure what kind of computer equipment to get in order to edit my project. I would like to use a good editing software maybe Vegas and use After Effects. Can some body point me in the right direction?
Don’t mind the cost, I need to know what I need.

Should this be ok?

I have a dell inspiron 2200 that I purchased in the summer of 2005. It still used windows xp. about a week ago, I tried to restart my computer and it simply wouldn’t boot. after further exploration, i noticed that it does begin to load. it goes through a few sequences then gets to the black screen where there is a large window’s icon and the little moving status bar underneath for about 20 seconds, then simply goes black with the cursor still movable and on the screen. I’ve let it sit for about thirty mins in this screen with no progress.

I’ve done thorough diagnostics in the boot menu by pressing f12 at the beginning of the startup process hoping to find a problem. nothing resulted.

I also don’t believe my laptop came with a boot disc. Looking through some of the original paperwork that came with it, i found something that says my computer does not require an operating system cd or drivers cds. instead, it tells me to reinstall software by using system restore… i’d love to do this if my comp would actually boot!

somebody please help.

thanks

The problem started yesterday. My computer was doing perfectly fine but then it crashed while running some program. so i had to perform a hard shutdown and restart the comp. the computer was still working fine after that one time but the program was buggy and kept crashing and i had to keep doing the hard shutdown. now times this whole scenario by 30 cause i shut it down nearly that many times from all the crashes. but now my comp wont even last 5 minutes before crashing and this is with the program not even running. i uninstalled it and same thing, i get a crash after 5 minutes. and booting up takes a long time in some parts and even still it doesnt always turn on correctly, it freezes in boot up aswell. even in bios it will freeze. so now im stuck. i tried to reinstall vista and it froze in the middle of reinstallation and then i ran the thing again and finished it up but its still crashing. so im guessing the motherboard got ruined because if it was power supply it would shut down after the crash wouldnt it? and its probably not software cause i completely reset the comp and reinstalled vista and i even tried switching wireless cards and mouse/keyboard. i also ran hp diagnostics tools and it says harddrive memory and cpu passed all the tests.
so pleeeaaase help meee. i cant use this thing without it freezing up every 5 minutes. i actually havnt even been able to get past the initial time setup pages and stuff when you reinstall vista. (using a dif. comp)

Old Dell Computer Crash ?

I was recently given a virtually dead computer: A Dell 233. The owner said it performed worse and worse and just finally became so hopeless he chucked it. Without giving you all the details he gave me a Dell Diagnostics disk, Win 95, 98 and upgrade ME disks and the boot floppies for each but none will install or run. So far all I’ve managed to install is DOS 6. I’ve scanned everything and run all the diagnostics and the only odd thing that shows up is that CHKDSK found a really long, long path name with a final sub directory called FLASH which for some reason I can’t get into (cd command).

Why can’t I get into this final sub directory to see what files are in it?
Is there any forensics-type software out there somewhere that will help me put some life into this old tank?
Formatting and reinstalling Windows means I probably lose a lot of old drivers so I’d rather avoid that… at least for a while. I suspect you’re right about the RTKit.
