So I bought my computer from best buy last may and now it has this virus that keeps popping up saying I have a virus so I buy the software.. I already have anit virus protection but apparnetly this isnt good enough.. anyways Best Buy is telling me they want to charge me 199 for a diagnostics fee plus an new anti virus protection.. they also said that I could get the anti virus and it may "heal’ the computer… please help me I know nothing thank you~

try updating and running the anti-virus software you have. And a little fyi dont spend that kind of money when there are tons of free anti-mal/virus/and trojan removers out there.

First, popups that ask you to download "antivirus software" can sometimes actually be viruses themselves. That "antivirus software" that you downloaded may have been malicious software. Second, $199 is a ridiculous fee. There are many places you can take your computer to have it checked out and the virus removed for less than a hundred dollars. Most places will work for about $50 per hour, and often that’s all that’s needed. There are also flat-rate places that will solve any problem for $60 or so. Look in the yellow pages or ask friends for recommendations.
