I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop. My antivirus software was Symantec. Last night, i uninstall Symantec and installed Trend Micro Internet Security. The installation completed successfully. Than I tried to do the updates for Trend Micro and after about 15 minutes of updating, an error message came up saying it’s not finish updating and can’t update or something like that. Than suddenly, the screen went gray. I tried rebooting and it kept pushing me into safe mode and I had to run a repair but nothing is working. Every time I start the laptop it goes in that safe mode and wont even let me get on. I took it to Best Buy for a diagnostic (waiting for response) but wanted to know if this has this happened to anyone??????? Do you think it’s hardware or software??

Conflict of Anti Virus Software…..You did not remove Symantec and Live update nor Norton anti virus from your computer completely…I’ve heard of this happening so often….people think they can just delete and anti virus and load up another just like that…sorrry that doesn’t work you have to clean up the old stuff before you put the new stuff in….I can safely say and I will make a bet….that their are at least 10 or more folders in your "C" files with the heading "Norton" "Live Update" and "Symantec"…once you delete norton av…you also have to delete live update and symantec from you ad/remove programs….
This is a classic case of the Anti Virus Product not being properly Uninstalled….
Software Clash – Best Buy will take a look at it and probably charge you a few hundred, or you could reformat your pc… for free 🙂 re-run the installion of trend micro and all shall be fine.

fails it is time to reformat your hard drive and wipe your pc clean, this can take hours and you will probably need the data recovery disc that you should have got when you bought the pc.
