I have a friend who’s computer is so riddled with viruses that you can’t even run anti-virus. Any suggestions on any freeware out there to help?
Also is there a version of linux i could put on that is user friendly?

-try a clean install of windows xp. In other words, try formatting his/her computer.
-then you MUST download these three programs:
AVG anti virus
AVG anti spyware
Ad aware 2007
and run them when in safe mode (run a google search on how to get into safe mode, ’cause it kind of varies from computer to computer.)
then tell your friend that he must do a full system scan with all three programs once a week in order for his computer to remain active (those future scans can be in "normal windows" mode.)
as for the linux thing, the only remotely user friendly one i can really think of at this point (and the on that everyone seems to be raving about here at home) is ubuntu. but be warned: if you are a heavy user of windows, you will not be able to basically run some things on ubuntu that you would be able to run on windows…
Format the hard drive
Click start>click run type in msconfig and then press enter. Goto the start up tab and uncheck everything except your anti virus, click ok and reboot.
