How can I repair WINDOWS Xp without reinstalling the entire operating system?????!!!!
Okay, i was doing some computer cleaning, deleting junk files, uninstalling, etc… then when i restarted my computer, my operating system, windows xp media center, the whole interface was lost. in other words, i cant see my desktop start menu, everything was reseted as if it was in safe mode and the whole GUI, graphical user interface stopped working. SO i cant copy my files or other things that i want to save before i would install the whole operating system all over again. SO BASICALLY I THINK THAT THERE IS A REGISTRY ERROR OF SOME KIND AND I CANT CLICK, COPY, CUT, ERASE, OR ANYTHING, NOT EVEN START ETC. How can i repair the system, i already tried system restore but it gives me an error that it is corrupted. I think of either using recovey console in windows when ou boot it up, BUT I DONT KNOW HOW TO USE THAT!!! PLEASE HELP !!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you just want your files, download/burn ubuntu to a disk by using a friends computer and running ubuntu from the disk. *This will not damage your hard drive or change it in any way.* Boot from the disk you just made and find your hard drive. Use an external hard drive or blank cd’s to get your data off your hard drive. After you have retrieved your files, reformat your hdd for a new installation of XP. Hope it helps.
