I have gone out to their (extortionist!) site but nothing has helped. I have recently downloaded Norton 2006 and it hasn’t detected ANYTHING. I have found pieces by doing searches in safe mode but when I think I have everything deleted it shows up again. Anyone successful???
PS I have MS Anti Spyware and have done several full scans, in safe mode and in normal. I’ll try the earlier suggestion of restoring back to a future date. I have already backed up all docs.
I’ll let you know if it works. Has anyone contacted the FCC??

WinFixer is a computer program that claims to have the ability to repair any computer system problem. However, due to its aggressive and incessant displaying of popup notifications; dubious installation (installing itself without the user’s permission), and advertisements of other products, WinFixer is generally regarded as a bogus adware program. The popup ads constantly display inconsistent notifications to convince the user that something may be amiss with the computer, and WinFixer will be able to fix it, for a price.
Due to these problems, WinFixer could possibly be spyware or malware; however, no authoritative determination has yet been made. However, some computers infected with this program exhibit sluggish performance.
WinFixer’s claim:
WinFixer 2005 is useful utility to scan and fix any system, registry and hard drive errors. It ensures system stability and performance, frees wasted hard drive space and recovers damaged Word, Excel, music and video files.
In reality, nothing seems to show that WinFixer does any of these things.

I got this spyware and was sooo annoyed, it was about popup every 3 minutes so I got a free Etrust subscription…
It seems that winfixer is from somewhere in Russia, and is a scam to get your credit card number and personal identifacation illegaly. I made a complaint call…but they didn’t say anything…So whatever you do DONT BUY WINFIXER
This one drove me crazy, it took me a combination of programs to get rid of it.

Personally I run Adaware, Cleanup, Spybot, and AVG Anti-virus. You may want to run Mozilla instead of Internet Explorer. Beyond that, at home I only use Apple iMac’s running OSX.
