Everytime i install a program into my computer my computer becomes very slow in bootup. When it boots up the explorer appears but the system tray programs arent in place. I dont have that much programs in bootup all i have is my firewall and my antivirus that boots up and this hasnt become a problem before i installed a program. The program isnt a virus and i have enough ram (512 mb). my firewall is zone alarm and i use AVG anti virus Free. it takes about an hour or 2 juss to boot up my whole computer and i checked msconfig already to check if there are any startup problems. I checked regiestery problems with CCleaner and i defraged my harddrives yet it still wont work. There are no spyware on my computer i scanned for viruses. Can anyone help?

Firewalls & AntiVirus programs will cause your pc to slow down majorly as they have to load when your system starts. The only way around this is to not use them. Unfortunately, that’s not a good answer for most people. If you want to try to disable them from starting up automatically and then you can start them manually do this:
Click:
Start
Run
Type MSCONFIG then Enter
Click on the startup tab, then click DISABLE all.
Apply
OK
Then restart the pc. That should speed it up.
Hi Hun, plz follow these three steps and i am hopeful that they will help u alot 🙂
3 steps,
1. goto run type : msconfig ENTER
2. select last Tab -> Startup
3. Disable all , then click apply and then ok and restart your computer.
after restarting it will ask about the utility to start automatically, but u checked the box and click ok,
it will work fine, I beleive
cheers,
-abs
i i looked on utube type in how to make your pc faster ,,, its a clip and you see him as he does it and if he goes to fast just stop and start again … its coolllllll and it works mine is 50% faster now and so easy to do
start>run>msconfig
press enter
now look at the startup tab
this will list things that run at start up remove the ones you know you dont need like say AIM starts automatically un check that. but if you are not sure google the name and see if it is essential for the computer to run if not you can un check it it will make it so it doesn’t take for ever to start up.
I think your problem might be Zone Alarm as I found it slowed down everything on my computer. Try disabling it (and your internet connection, just for safety) then restart your computer. If it boots up more quickly, get another firewall. I have always found McAfee to work satisfactorily.
