   yes but the virus protection u should get is this http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-professional.html i have it and limewire could not give me a virus because this stopped it. but u should run the scan from time to time because a virus can sneak it’s way in. but avast can delete the virus. i have limewire. have fun !

   Lime wire is just a tool to download. Like explorer is a tool to surf the net. They don’t cause spyware or viruses but they allow you to download programs or files that bad for your PC. Their purpose is not to protect you from bad files that’s what antispyware an virus protection software does.

   I use McAfee for a virus protection program and haven’t had any major problems with Limewire. It’s caught maybe two viruses over four or five months. I would say just be careful in what you choose to download from Limewire. Some songs I see posted there have hardly no information about them – like no track length. I avoid downloading things that have little to no information about the file displayed. Also, watch out for strange endings that aren’t .wmv or .mp3 or .mp4 format, and just try to download things that have legitimate sounding titles… For example, let’s say I do a search on Jack Johnson’s "Better Together". If I get…

   … Number two is more legitimate. Sorry if this isn’t a good explanation of how to go about things, or if it’s not making a lot of sense. Also, if at any time you suspect that you might have a virus, you could try downloading Malware Bytes from the company site. Malware Bytes generally does a slightly better scan than most common antivirus programs like McAfee and AVG.

   i been using limewire for about two years to download music and never had a virus. im using mcafee anti virus. also it probaly depends on what you are trying to download from there other than music files.

   Get the windows live onecare saftey scanner. http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm?s_cid=sah its free. I used to use limewire, the only problem I see is that the selection sucks.

   No. Not only is it a pit of malware, nearly everything on that network is there illegally. So, be a criminal or get infected. It’s your choice.

    It will only give you a virus if you are idiotic enough to download the ‘dodgy’ files.

    Apparently there is going to be a crackdown on people using illegal download software, so i deleted my limewire. But yeah have fun it should be safe.
