Epson CX3810 under XP – the printer prints, so that means the USB port and cable are working, the scanner scans if I press the copy button, which means it is not physically broken. The software installs. You install the software with the printer off and at one point it tells you to turn it on, then it recognizes the printer and continues. There are no yellow exclamation points in system manager. All diagnostics check out. But Scanner and Camera wizard, paint, epson scanner, etc all can not find the scanner. I tried a different USB port and a different cable. I was on the phone with Epson for an hour. No dice. Just in case someone else has run into this, I’d appreciate an avenue to explore.
Thanks for trying but:
I shut the printer off and had to reboot the computer during the uninstall process.
the usb is plugged directly into the computer, not to a hub. I tried several cables. one of them worked fine with the same computer and an Epson cx8400. Epson does not supply a USB cable.

It sure seems like you tried just about everything, so I will add my 2 cents in. I hope this makes sense to you
did you shut the computer down before you hooked it up?
I had the same problem some months ago with my hp psc 1510xi. I don’t remember the specifics but I searched the hp knowledge base and found the solution. Sorry i don’t remember what the solution was….
