I just bought a PC from ebay. All of the programs are uninstalled, but there are still a lot of registry entries from this long gone programs. Does anyone know of a free program I can use to clean the registry of this clutter? Thanks!!!

Ok, so my computer has been running pretty raggedy latly and i had just a bunch of junk on it. I run antivirus that updates regularly, i have spyware scans i do regularly, i do everything you can. I run zone alarm. So i just deleted a lot of things, but how can i clean memory and remove pointless things that are just acting as clutter? What else can i do other than completly formatting to help my computer.
Yes, i defrag like every 4 weeks or so. I delete everything i run scandisk everything is fine. But it jsut runs slow not like it should to my standards at least. Is there a way to clean windows or clean memory or do something to kind of refresh it? For some reason i jsut think my windows operating system is a clutter from all the stuff i download. I just think it should be performing better

I know that cleaning out the computers registry enhances the pc’s performance and I’ve also heard of a lot of programs that you can download to do this but are they safe?

I guess I don’t want to download another program that is going to add more clutter and install hidden $hit.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

My PC has been crashing and people tell me to just do a clean reboot of the OS but when I try I keep getting the message that the version on my PC is newer than the one on the CD. I know that I’ve downloaded updates, hence the version on the cd is old, but I don’t mind going back and updating it later. I just want to clean my system out and update it after i have installed XP. I have already saved the files I want to keep, so I dont mind the remaining clutter from being swiped clean.
