How do you run your scan when having AVAST for virus protection?

I have avast for my virus protection and i dont know how to scanner to run for viruses.

I know one time i restarted the computer and then when it booted back up…there was this blue screen and it was searching for viruses and i deleted some.

But it want do it anymore when i restart or turn off and turn on my comp again

How do you run scans for viruses???

How do i clean a hard drive without deleting the operating system?(Windows Xp)?

So my Pc has both virus and spyware, i’ve tryed every single imaginable program.AVG,McAffe, Ad-Aware,Registry cleaner and so on. So i just tough if their was a program that could clean my hard drive and only leave the windows operating system. If you any i would really appriciate if you would help me.I’ve gotten rid of the virus but now i got spyware which is very well known, DriveCleaner,Ultimate Cleaner and another bucnh of crap. thx for your help. i’m running windows XP SP2. have this spyware/malware which cn’t get rid off. its rewrite the registry. help!?

i used spybot, superantispyware, run norton and AVG. still there. malware/spyware or maybe a trogan tries to undo what I've done on the registry to clean up a dll file called kapekabo.dll. thx.
