Here’s the deal.

I love Windows. I’m a big Windows fanboy, but even so, I understand that Windows systems get worse.. and worse.. and worse over time. My XP is getting to that point. I’ve ran every cleaning software, virus software, registry cleaner.. everything. I think this XP is about at it’s end, so I ask for opinions.

I have a Windows Vista laptop, so I still have access to windows. Besides gaming (which I would miss dearly on my desktop), is there really a LARGE change between Ubuntu and Windows? I’ve always been interested in Ubuntu but I’m kind of iffy, I’m not so sure about the installation of programs and such, and as I said before, I’d miss a good portion of the games I play on my desktop.

I am using a multi boot system with WINXP and Ubuntu 7.04. My windows is badly infected with viruses and I have tried many anti-virus software. The all fail to remove the virus. the virus is slowly choking my system to death. Its changing the security policy so i cannot open network connections and stuff. and changing the policy back doesnt help either. I can see that my kernal32.dll shell32.dll and some other system files are infected. should i just delete these files and try a repair with WinXP? If i really need a clean install, the GRUB is lost. Is there a way to restore the GRUB then?

Ok, so I currently have Windows XP which is filled with crap. Idealistically I would like to wipe the Windows XP clean, start with a new slate, and then install Linux Ubuntu. If anyone could help other than just giving me the Linux Ubuntu website, I would really appreciate it.

Ok, so I have a crappy computer with Windows XP on it and I want to wipe it clean of all files and apps and everything. Then, I want to install my Windows XP again (I have the CD with me), and then eventually install Linux Ubuntu as a dual boot but I can worry about that later. If anyone can help I will be grateful.
