Registry cleaner? I have anti spy and malware software. Also, anti-virus software. I do disk cleanup often. Now I'm hearing that I need a registry cleaner. What's that?
Oh yeah, I also keep my browsing history completely cleared.
For instance, I'm able to do all the stuff this software claims to do without it…

So, what's so special about it?
Is it just for people who don't know how to use their computer?

There are very few safe Registry cleaners out there. Even so called top rated one's like Regcure(It's one of the worst).
Before using any of them create a Restore Point with System Restore.
CCleaner and Comodo Cleaner are free and Safe.
Registry Mechanic is very good but not free.
I use all three as they all find different errors in the registry.
Don't know where doc_up72 is coming from though.
CCleaner works great on Vista or XP.

Ok friend. Let me explain. Registry means every time you install the software all the software informations like software key, serial registered here. Even if you uninstalled that registry should not be deleted. But this registry cleaner delete everything.
This is what i know.
I use it and am very pleased with it especially considering it's free. Everyone needs a registry cleaner. It won't work on Vista though
but the new Eusing free registry repair will. It's also free but not quite as good. I usually run it twice when I run it CCCleaner has some neat little tools on it. It's good if you're running xp or older.
Good luck
why don't you windows experts enlighten us children of a lesser God on how to use windows unless your just talking about running Regedit. CCCleaner backs up every change it makes or at least offers you the option. I mainly use it to clear files and cookies and do uninstalls that windows won't allow me to do. What do I care anyway, I'm switching to nix plus I use my Bit Defender now anyway but if the software isn't a part of Windows proper and you don't want it any more and it's not shared what's the harm in deleting the entire entry?
You do not need a registry cleaner. There is only 1 piece of software that can clean your registry, and that's Windows. Other programs can really screw up your registry, and some other programs contain viruses that will actually infect your PC.
Windows doesn't do a very good job at keeping the registry clean, but there are no other programs that do any better.
Some Internet Security programs have registry cleaners in them, and they are the only ones I would trust, other than Windows itself.
Yea Registry Scanner is essential coz Virus/Spywares edit your System Registry and change your OS Settings…so the Cleaner will help you to Clean your Registry of all the invalid entries.

You hit it on the mark.
I suppose you could say that it's also for the sake of convenience and time saving, but no, it doesn't do anything that someone with basic knowledge of Windows couldn't do by themselves.
