I have had my computer now for about 3 years and it is running real slow. Is there any free versions to clean you computer completely, so it will run faster?

I want to schedule my desk cleanup to run once a week. When I go to the Schedule Task Wizard it eventually asks me for my password. My computer to my knowledge doesn’t have a password. (When I turn the computer on it doesn’t ask for a password and this is the only time it’s ever asked me for a password.) So, I just click next, but then I get this error:

“An error has occurred while attempting to set task account information. The specific error is: 0x8007005: Access denied. You do not have permission to perform the requested operation.

What do I have to do to get the disk cleanup to run as a scheduled task? Alternatively, how can I reset my password or figure out what it is?

I’m planning to do a major computer clean up on my PC. Are there any important things that I need to know prior to this operation? Is there an easy and fast way on how to speed up this process?

Ok, so I have a crappy computer with Windows XP on it and I want to wipe it clean of all files and apps and everything. Then, I want to install my Windows XP again (I have the CD with me), and then eventually install Linux Ubuntu as a dual boot but I can worry about that later. If anyone can help I will be grateful.

On my old computer (an emachine), I had an icon on my desktop called “Disk Cleaner” where I can delete files on my computer but I don’t have disk cleaner on my new computer (a Dell). Is there another program on my new computer that is similar to disk cleaner so I can delete old files and stuff and clean my computer?
